WiebeTech announces SilverSATA™ Series Storage System

Wichita, KS — January 10, 2006 — WiebeTech continues to take the lead in Serial ATA (SATA) technology and is introducing a series of SATA storage units that are extremely compact and attractive. The units are available with 1, 2 or 5 bays that hold removable trays for SATA drives, making the drives fully interchangeable between units.

To eliminate clutter, only one cable is required to attach to the host, even on the 5-bay version. The 5-Bay version requires a SATA 2 host card which is available from WiebeTech.

SilverSATA I serves as a single drive enclosure. It has a removable tray so drives are easily swapped. It also features a USB2 port for universal compatibility, as well as an eSATA port.

SilverSATA II works as a hardware RAID 0 or 1 for striping or mirroring. It also has a USB2 port, in addition to an eSATA port.

SilverSATA V works as a software RAID and handles over 200MB/s transfer rate, fast enough even for HD video editors, and with enough storage space for huge projects or server environments. A SATA 2 host card, compatible with both PCs and PCI-X Macs, is available from WiebeTech.

• SATA Compatibility: Supports both SATA 1 and SATA 2 drives. All versions connect to the host via a single eSATA connection.

• Configurations: SilverSATA V: Configurable as either JBOD or software RAID.
SilverSATA II : Configurable as striped or mirrored RAID.
SilverSATA I: Single drive configuration.

• Hot-Swappability: Each drive tray provides an independent tray lock and drive status LED; each tray is hot swappable (requires host SATA hot-swap support) except when configured as a software RAID.

• Dual cooling fans: SilverSATA I is fanless. Other units feature ball bearing fans.

• Construction: Made of tough, durable aluminum.

• Status Indicators: Front panel status indicators include: Power, Temperature, Fan Detector, HDD indicator (unit), and HDD status (individual drive).

• Rear Panel Power and ON/OFF Access: Power and SATA connections are located on the rear panel, along with the power ON/OFF switch.
