Wichita, KS — June 29, 2005 — WiebeTech announces TrayDock Extremeª and TrayDock eSATAª, affordable RAIDs with either 2- or 4-bay reloadable drive trays. TrayDock Extreme provides a hardware based Striped RAID for IDE/SATA drives and attaches to any FireWire host. TrayDock eSATA offers a software RAID for SATA drives and attaches to eSATA hosts.
The 2-bay versions start at $349.95 retail. The 4-bay versions start at $449.95. Both versions will begin shipping July 6, 2005.
TrayDock Extreme features 2 or 4 bays with reloadable drive trays The 2-bay version accepts either SATA or IDE trays. The 4-bay version is IDE only. The unit has a total of three ports on the rear panel, two of which are FireWire 800 and one is FireWire 400. Automatic support is provided to RAID the drives together, so that the user sees a single volume mount on the desktop.
Due to its high transfer rates, TrayDock Extreme is an excellent product for multimedia projects, such as demanding audio or video editing. And unlike competitive products which embed RAIDed drives within a difficult-to-repair sealed enclosure, TrayDock Extreme allows all drives to be easily swapped from the front of the unit.
TrayDock eSATA is designed for eSATA hosts and features an individual eSATA back panel port for each drive. As a result, users may create high performance software RAIDs or use the drives as a JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks).
TrayDock eSATA is an excellent companion product to WiebeTech's popular G5Jam+ª. It will find a primary use with users who have applications that require extremely high transfer rates, such as editing uncompressed HDTV. Due to its affordability, it will also be popular as a backup storage device, especially when deployed as a JBOD.
