FOX TV's 24 Series Briefcase Reveals WiebeTech Products

Wichita, KS — January 24, 2005 — When the contents of the briefcase stolen in the first episode of FOX's popular 24 thriller series were revealed in episode six, they proved to be specialized devices designed to override nuclear reactors. The props used on the show are actually a variety of conventional and forensic storage devices that are made by WiebeTech.

The WiebeTech products are clearly visible within the internal foam pockets of the exposed briefcase. Even the large computer wireframe model which spins on the briefing screen during the final moments of the episode is actually an exploded view of a WiebeTech dock.

The main prop used by FOX was a WiebeTech Forensic Field Kit™ and contains several WiebeTech data storage products. These devices are commonly used to extract forensic evidence from suspect hard drives and create backups of the collected data. The WiebeTech products are widely used by the criminal investigation community including the FBI, ATF, Secret Service and IRS Criminal Investigation unit. Other WiebeTech products are also commonly used for every day backup of individual and corporate data.

Producers of the FOX series 24 contacted WiebeTech for use of the Forensic Field Kit and its contents for this year's episodes. "We knew WiebeTech's storage devices had wonderful utility which would appeal to our viewers," said Dick Kyker, prop master for 24, "so when it came to choosing storage equipment which would allow easy access to hard drive data, there was no better choice than WiebeTech. We even purchased some of their products for our production crew." "Our forensic products are becoming a government standard, and our docking products are also extremely popular with audio and video professionals," said James Wiebe, CEO of WiebeTech, "so we're pleased they were chosen by 24 producers for their program."

WiebeTech products have been reviewed in a variety of publications, including PC Magazine and MacWorld. The WiebeTech Forensic ComboDock™ was recently reviewed by SC Magazine, one of the leading magazines in the security industry.

Complete information on WiebeTech's line of products is available at www.wiebetech.com.
