No Screws, No Trays: More RTX™ TrayFree™ RAID/JBOD Enclosures with up to 8 bays; FireWire, iSCSI & Ultra320 SCSI

Wichita, KS — October 3, 2007 — WiebeTech announces new additions to its revolutionary RTX™ TrayFree™ SATA storage line. Newly released units now feature up to eight bays, including 4-bay JBOD units with FireWire, 6-bay "Hardened" ruggedized units with shock protection for drives and lockable bays, and 8-bays for massive storage capacity.

RTX™ uses WiebeTech's new TrayFree™ Technology that allows users to insert bare 3.5" SATA hard drives - up to 1TB each - without trays or screws. Simply insert a drive into a bay and close the door.

"It's becoming more and more common to have piles of hard drives loaded with data that need to be accessed quickly," said James Wiebe, President/CEO of WiebeTech. "The RTX family of products allows hard drives to work almost like huge, screaming fast floppy disks: pop them in without fussing with the enclosure, or even a tray."

TrayFree™ Technology: RTX JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) enclosures, units ending in FJ, SJ, NJ and SV, bring back the old familiarity of floppy disks to computing. The great thing about floppies was the ease and convenience of having a stack of them by your computer and popping one in whenever you needed it.

For RAIDs (units ending in IR or UR), TrayFree Technology means you can swap out an entire volume set in less than a minute.

RTX800 - Very Fast 8 bay RAID

RTX models that feature iSCSI (SCSI over IP) marry the tried and true SCSI protocols with the convenience of an ethernet connection. Plug the RTX into a network and access the drives at up to Gigabit speeds. The RTX obtains an IP address, and any one person on the network can access a volume on RTX. A Gigabit connection to the RTX can yield transfer rates up to a blazing 100MB/s.

Units with as many as 16 bays will be announced later in 2007. Users may easily choose which RTX products meet their needs, creating access to data in the most convenient way possible. In the coming months, WiebeTech will continue to enhance the RTX line by adding more bays and more connection types.
