Forensic LabDock™ Turns Any Computer into a Digital Forensic Workstation

Vancouver, WA — September 16, 2010 — Turn any computer into a write-blocked digital forensic workstation with the new Forensic LabDock from WiebeTechTM, a brand of CRU-DataPort®. The Forensic LabDock is the most affordable and easy to use write-blocker on the market that installs into standard 5.25" bays for convenient forensic access to suspect hard drives. It is available with base units starting at $329.00.

Forensic investigators and criminals alike know hard drives contain hidden areas known as HPA (Host Protected Areas) or DCO (Device Configuration Overlays) not accessible on Operating Systems, but can be used to hide information. Forensic LabDock has built-in HPA/DCO detection with LEDs that alert investigators to inspect suspicious areas. It incorporates a USB WriteBlocker to forensically access flash drives or full size USB enclosures as well as SATA and IDE drives.

Forensic LabDock is ingeniously designed with feedback from industry leaders and digital forensic experts. Unique features include a recessed, fan-cooled acquisition bay that protects a suspect drive. It also has the ability to forensically write-block both USB and SATA or IDE hard drives at the same time. Stand-alone software utility is provided to verify the status of any combination of WiebeTech forensic write-blockers simultaneously.

“From eDiscovery labs to law enforcement investigators, our customers are ecstatic about having an affordable, bay-mounted write-blocking solution that captures 95% of their daily caseloads. It’s a game changer for us, so much so that we have standardized on it in the Spectrum XFSTM forensic workstations,” according to Daniel Gimenez, President of Digital Reconnaissance, Inc. Forensic LabDock will be shown in conjunction with other digital forensic, encryption and data security and storage solutions from CRU- WiebeTech at the High Tech Crime (HTCIA) conference in Atlanta, GA September 20-22, 2010.
